DAVID KELLEN + ASSOCIATES, INC. specializes in the creation of unique
architecture and attractions that mesh state-of-the-art design, special
effects, stories, themes and architecture. DKA's background in architecture
and theme parks has kept the company on the cutting edge of architectural
and entertainment design for the past ten years. David Kellen is also a principal in JECD, INC., which specializes
in the creation of theme parks, themed environments, trade show booths
and computer games. JECD, INC. is currently designinga new urban entertainment
center in Hong Kong. David Kellen's work has been published internationally.
The architectural style of David Kellen is characterized by rich and
sculptural compositions where functional and emotional components interact
to produce challenging environments that engage participants on many
levels.
After receiving his training at U.C.L.A., Kellen worked for Charles
Moore and spent several years as a Project Architect at the firm of
Frank O. Gehry and Associates. The projects that Kellen worked on at
the Gehry firm include the ICS-ENGINEERING RESEARCH FACILITY, a 25,000
square foot building at the University of California Irvine Campus.
David Kellen was a principal in the firm of SCHWEITZER-KELLEN. The firm
designed numerous restaurants and food service facilities including
CITY restaurant. Other noteworthy projects include GALLAY, a clothing
store, and JUAN JUAN, a beauty salon.
The firm's notable projects include ROCKENWAGNER restaurant, which appeared
in INTERIORS, the SHINKO MANAGEMENT office, which appeared in PROGRESSIVE
ARCHITECTURE, and E-LOGIC, which appeared in INTERIOR DESIGN. Current
work includes a master planning design for a hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada,
a restaurant at Universal City Walk, houses in Malibu and Beverly Hills,
California as well as numerous commercial and residential projects.
